Important Dates for Summer 2013 MSRTP Students

  • November 16, 2012 (or before)
    Faculty abstracts will be available for online viewing. Link requires UW NetID. PROJECT ABSTRACTS for Summer 2012
  • Friday, January 18, 2013
    MSRTP applications due. Please submit original proposal to Michelle Fleming, Manager, Basic Science Curriculum, A-300 Health Sciences. 
  • You will be notified of a funding decision on or before March 8, 2013. You must confirm acceptance within one week of notification.
  • Late March/Early April, 2013
    Attend the Selective 1 informational meeting!
  • NOTE:  If your project will involve working with patients, patient data/medical records, and/or tissue specimens, you will need to have IRB approval.  Geri Faris, UW Human Subjects Review Administrator, (gfaris@uw.edu, 206.616.2345) can answer questions regarding your IRB application.  You will need UW IRB approval even if your research is happening away from UW. 
  • April 8, 2013
    You should have submitted your IRB application to UW Human Subjects Division.
  • Late May/Early June 2013
    MSRTP funds will be distributed.  Please note that if your project requires IRB approval, funds will not be distributed until IRB approval is received.

Important Dates for Summer 2012 MSRTP Students

  • July 16, 2012
    Submit a project progress report via email to Michelle Fleming at flemingm@uw.edu. One or two paragraphs is sufficient.
  • September 14, 2012
    If you are interested in applying to attend the Western Student Medical Research Forum in Carmel, CA, submit a half-page abstract of your work for approval to Michelle Fleming, flemingm@uw.edu.
  • October 1, 2012 2:00 PM (5:00 PM EST)
    If your abstract has been approved by the School of Medicine, this is the deadline to submit your abstract for the Western Student Medical Research Forum held in Carmel, California (January 23-26, 2013). (Not an MSRTP requirement, but a good idea and a great experience; you will need to go through a preliminary approval process within the School of Medicine to be eligible for reimbursement.) DO NOT WAIT FOR THE DEADLINE!! The site gets overloaded. Print/save your receipt for reimbursement in February.
  • Prior to October 26, 2012
    Take your poster to the Locke Computer Center (T-271) for proofing and printing. Printing instructions will be emailed in late August.
  • November 9, 2012
    Drop your poster off in A-300 by 5:00 p.m.
  • November 15, 2012 at UW Tower, 5:00 - 7:00 PM
    Have a great time presenting your work at the Medical Student Poster Session!

    Submit your final paper accompanied by a copy of the Sponsor Evaluation Form (PDF 49k). See Instructions for Final Papers.
