ERAS registration information sent from Trudy Furberry with your access code.  Students can begin working on applications on the ERAS website, beginning July 1.

Prepare applications, resume or C.V., and request faculty  recommendation letters.  Use ERAS web-based system to complete and coordinate all aspects of your application.  If applying to programs in San Francisco Match, you will need to use their central application service (CAS).  If applying to Armed Services programs, you need to follow their process.

NRMP registration information will be posted on the NRMP website in July.  NRMP registration begins on August 15 on the NRMP website.  San Francisco and Urology matching program information are also on the web.

Check the Web for information on residency programs and their application brochures.  Best source is FREIDA-Online (http://www.ama-assn.org/)

AUGUST/SEPTEMBER:

Students can transmit applications through ERAS beginning on August 15.  Trudy will be able to start scanning faculty recommendation letters after this date.  Residency programs will be able to begin retrieving certified applications from ERAS beginning on September 1.

Complete USMLE Step 2-Clinical Knowledge and Step 2-Clinical Skills exams and School’s senior OSCE requirement.

OCTOBER:

Transcripts for ERAS/CAS use only sent to programs.  Transcripts include medical school coursework for which grades have been received through 2007 Spring Quarter.  Summer Quarter grades are NOT posted until November.

For official University transcripts or if you want UW undergraduate coursework deleted from transcripts sent to residencies, contact the Transcript Office at Schmitz Hall.

Check to be sure faculty recommendation letters have been submitted to the Student Affairs Office (this can be done via MyERAS), or for non-ERAS programs provide faculty with a name and address label list for them to mail letters to programs.

Use ERAS for release of official USMLE scores to residency programs.

Selection of Seniors into AOA.  If elected, this will be included in Dean’s Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE).

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER:

Programs will start scheduling interviews.  Some programs will interview as early as October while others may interview as late as the end of January.  Military and advanced specialty residencies usually interview in the fall and announce match results in January.

NOVEMBER 1:

National release date for Dean’s Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE); MSPEs are transmitted electronically through ERAS for participating specialties or are mailed by the Student Affairs Office to CAS and non-ERAS residency programs based on name and label address label list submitted by you.

DECEMBER/JANUARY:

Deadlines for rank-order lists for San Francisco and Urology matching programs.  Most common months for interviewing.  You will want to schedule free time for interviewing.  This will avoid conflicts with expected service commitments when you are registered in clinical electives.  See clerkship absence policy in the Student Handbook on the Student Affairs web page.
