Results for Armed Services Matches
We receive a confirmation of the military match results from the NRMP in early January. As soon as you receive this information, please let us know if it is all right to release this information to your class. It will also be included in the list of postgraduate training appointments that is prepared for posting on Match Day.
Results for Specialties in Separate Matching Programs
(Ophthalmology and Urology)
We receive the results of these specialty matches through a fax. As soon as we receive this information, we will email you. You should also receive your match results at whatever address you gave to the specialty match program. There are usually very few options to consider if you are unmatched through this matching process. However, the specialty match should provide you with a hotline number or list of programs with openings for you to contact.

- Ophthalmology - January 15, 2009
- Urology - January 26, 2009
Match Result Week Timeline - 2009
Results of the NRMP will be announced during the week of March 16. The names of the unmatched students will be released to me at 8:30 a.m. PT on Monday, March 16. I will email you when I receive this information from the NRMP, and will give you specific instructions on when to arrive in the office (A-300 Health Sciences) on Tuesday morning (a.k.a.
Scramble Day) to begin working with your career counselor. You will be able to find out whether you are matched or unmatched via the Web yourself at 9:00 a.m. PT.
We will have our Match Day celebration in the Health Sciences Lobby with you and your spouse/partner and/or children beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, with the match results released at 9:00 a.m. For those of you who will be in Boise and Spokane, your match results will be available at a celebration there. The NRMP will also post the match results on the Web at 10:00 a.m. PT in case you are unable to join us here or in Boise.
Monday, March 16
8:30 a.m. (PST)
Dr. Eveland will receive the Unmatched Applicant Report, which will include unmatched applicants. (If you are on this list, Dr. Eveland will email you directly.)
9:00 a.m. (PST)
Matched and unmatched information posted to NRMP website.
Tuesday, March 17 - Scramble Day
8:00 a.m. (PST)
If unmatched, meet in A-300 and we will have faculty and staff available to assist you with the "scramble" process.
8:45 a.m. (PST)
List of unfilled programs released to Dr. Eveland.
9:00 a.m. (PST)
Unmatched applicants can begin to contact unfilled programs.
Thursday, March 19 - Match Day
8:30 a.m. (PST)
Begin to gather in Health Sciences Lobby w/friends and family. Refreshments will be served.
9:00 a.m. (PST)
Ceremony begins in HS Lobby, Match Results are distributed.
10:00 a.m. (PST)
Applicants can find out where they matched from the NRMP website.
