Special Research and Award Opportunities

The Office of Student Affairs oversees two of the many avenues at the School of Medicine for students to pursue research.

Medical Student Research Training Program (MSRTP)

This program provides approximately 30 funded opportunities annually for students to conduct research between their first and second year of medical school.  Many students choose to fulfill the School's Independent Investigative Inquiry (III) requirement through completion of an MSRTP project.

Extracurricular Research Opportunities (password required)

Student Affairs maintains an extensive list of these opportunities, including "year out" experiences such as the HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Program and short-term opportunities such as the RPS/AFAR Medical Student Geriatric Scholars Program.
