Stay in Touch with Loved Ones
Harborview Medical Center offers a free internet service called CaringBridge,™ to help families, friends, and loved ones connect with each other and stay in touch during times of crisis. This free service was developed in Minnesota in 1997 as a non-profit organization to communicate with loved ones about significant life events.
The Patient and Family Resource Center has computers available for creation of these personalized web pages as well as helpful staff members to answer your questions. We are open from 9am – 5pm Monday through Friday.
Using this service saves you time and energy, enabling you to concentrate on your loved one in the hospital. It’s also a good way to receive support. An online community is created and only those you share the website address and password with can view your private messages in your online journal as well as any photos. For those loved ones who register at the site, an email is sent when your online journal is updated.
