I enjoy caring for each person within a family and have an interest in pediatrics, obstetrics and women's health. I have special training and clinical experience in caring for HIV and AIDS patients. I have been thrilled to live in Seattle for the past nine years and love folk music, skiing, travel and opera.

I have worked as a primary care physician in Washington since 1975, first in rural Eastern Washington, and since 1985 in downtown Seattle. My professional interests include chronic diseases and geriatrics. My wife is a dentist and a UW faculty researcher. We enjoy bicycling, canoeing, hiking, and camping with our two children.

I returned to Seattle in 2008 after teaching and practicing family medicine for 25 years at the Oregon Health Sciences University. My wife and I enjoy taking our two vigorous dogs on regular excursions to Seattle's dog parks. I also enjoy gardening and my not-so-private passion of learning and playing acoustic guitar and mandolin - and most recently, the fiddle.
