X-Ray Tech/ Lab Assistant

UW Neighborhood Clinics has an outstanding opportunity for a Radiology/Laboratory Assistant. This individual performs routine radiographic procedures as directed by a clinic provider. This includes but is not limited to x-rays of the chest, ribs, abdomen, hips, spines, and extremities. This individual will also conduct routine and general laboratory tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and be responsible for the accurate and timely collection, labeling, and processing of specimens from pediatric and adult patients.

Radiology
Positions patients and adjusts computed radiography (CR) equipment for taking x-rays following established policies and procedures. Provides radiation protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Knowledge of x -ray quality control procedures and troubleshoots problems with equipment or exams.

Lab Assistant
Performs Adult and pediatric phlebotomy, following established policies and procedures, with attention to excellent customer service. Takes pre-analytic steps to include specimen processing and handling, centrifuging and preparing samples for UWMC reference lab send-out as well as for onsite testing. Will perform routine waived and non-waived testing such as urinalysis, rapid strep, pregnancy tests, mono screens, protimes, lipids, hemoglobin A1c and urine microalbumin tests. Knowledge of quality control procedures. Post-analytic steps to include recognizing abnormal and critical results and performing problem solving

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience as an x-ray-technician or technologist preferably in an office-based practice environment as well as laboratory assistant and phlebotomy experience in a medical facility; a high school diploma, completion of one academic year in a lab assistant program and two years of formal radiologic technology training, graduation from a phlebotomy certification program and/or one year of phlebotomist experience
