UW Medicine's 2012 Mini-Medical School is a series of exciting lectures and demonstrations open to the general public and designed to teach you about medical science, patient care and leading-edge research underway at the University of Washington. This year’s program takes place at 7 p.m. on consecutive Tuesdays from February to March in Hogness Auditorium at the Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Center, adjacent to UW Medical Center on the south end of the UW campus. The series is free, and we encourage people who enjoy their experience to contribute to UW Medicine.
UW Medicine experts will discuss what’s new in predicting and preventing disease from new vaccines and immune therapies to a range of innovations for rapid testing at the point-of-care. At Mini-Med you’ll hear about some of the newest technologies and surgical treatments for prostate, tumors and traumatic injuries, and how advances in patient care are supporting women and children’s health care, both locally and globally.

Mini-Med Hosts
This year’s hosts are Dr. Teri Brentnall and Dr. Edith Cheng.
Dr. Brentnall is the Walters Endowed Chair and Professor of Medicine in the division of gastroenterology and adjunct professor in pathology at UW School of Medicine. She is also the founder and director of the Pancreatic Cancer Surveillance Program at UW Medical Center.
Dr. Cheng is a professor in obstetrics & gynecology and adjunct professor in internal medicine, medical genetics at UW School of Medicine. She is the medical director of the Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Therapy Program and Prenatal and Infant Care Clinic at the UW Medical Center. She is also the program director for the Prenatal Diagnosis and Treatment Program at Seattle Children’s.
