2012 Class Schedule (January-May)
Advanced ICU Day - $150 - 8 CEUs
This is a very popular one-day course targeting experienced critical care RNs, presented by critical care physicians, nurses and pharmacist. Content includes advanced pathrophysiology, current and developing research and state-of-the-art practice in critical care. This course is a repeat of the Fall 2011 Advanced ICU Workshop.
Cardiology Core - $300 - 14 CEUs
A two-day course focused on the care of patients with cardiac disease. General sessions include the latest in ACS, CHF, trends in resuscitation and more. Break-out sessions include a variety of critical care and acute care topics such as IABP, pacemakers, post-cath care, and 12-Leak EKG interpretation.

Focused Conversations - $70
A 2-hr introductory course on behavior change counseling, an evidence-based patient centered method designed to help patients make positive behavior changes. We will focus on patients with chronic conditions and provide participants with motivational interviewing background and strategies to assist their clients to better self-manage their conditions.
Neuro Core - $450 - 25 CEUs
A three-day course on neuroanatomy, neurological assessment, pathophysiology, and management of common neurological and neurosurgical patient problems. An excellent course for those new to neuroscience patient care or further developing basic skills.

Neuro Core Lite - $150 - 8 CEUs
This one day course is an overview of basic neurologic concepts for nurses working on non-neuroscience patient care areas. Concepts include: anatomy and physiology, neurologic assessment, basic pathophysiology and management of traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury.
Neurocritical Care Day - $150 - 8 CEUs
This one day educational offering focuses on current topics in the management of the critically ill neuroscience patient. Topics will be of interest to both critical and acute care neuroscience nurses as well as other critical care nurses who care for patients with neurological injury and illness.
Nursing Management of the Stroke Patient - $150 - 8 CEUs
A one day course focusing on the care of the stroke patient. Content includes: stroke pathophysiology, medical treatments/diagnostics and secondary prevention strategies, as well as educational needs of patients and families, nursing interventions and nursing assessment.
Ortho Core - $300 - 16 CEUs
A two-day course providing content related to the management of musculoskeletal trauma. Includes fixations, flaps, replants, pain management, limb loss, wound care therapies, and more.

Palliative Care Conference - $150 - 7 CEUs
The yearly palliative conference explores a variety of topics related to death, dying and grieving. It is a multidisciplinary conference and is appropriate for any staff who support and/or work with these patients.
Recognizing and Responding to Urgent Patient Changes in the Acute Care Setting - $150 - 8 CEUs
This one day course will include care of the patient presenting with acute changes in neuro status, chest pain, sepsis, bleeding emergencies, respiratory distress, DKA, and hypoglycemic emergencies. This course includes hands on skills stations and simulation to assist you in caring for the client presenting with deterioration in the acute care setting.
External Curricula Courses
The following courses are taught using curricula developed by either the Emergency Nurse Association or the Society of Trauma Nurses. Text, included in fee, is sent 2-3 weeks prior to class. CEUs are as determined by the appropriate organization.
ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) - $300
A two-day course taught concurrently with ATLS developed to teach established standards of trauma care and practical, life-saving skills. The course is designed for the experienced nurse working in the ED, ICU, surgical department and pre-hospital setting who wishes to increase knowledge and practice skills.

ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) - $250
A two-day course designated to provide the learner with cognitive and psychomotor skills. Lectures and skill stations are used to standardize the approach to pediatric emergency care.

TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum) - $250
A two-day course meeting WA state trauma designation education requirements. Focus is on initial assessment and stabilization of trauma patients of all ages with multi-system injuries.
