As a volunteer, you can provide vital services in many areas throughout UW Medical Center. Duties may include: transporting patients to appointments within the medical center, delivering supplies to departments and clinics, stocking materials and conducting inventory, clerical duties such as filing, answering phones and data entry, and assisting medical center staff as needed. Some positions may offer contact with patient.

The minimum commitment is four hours per week for three months.

Requirements to volunteer: 

  • Attend a volunteer information meeting and interview with the volunteer manager. Information meetings are offered weekly.
  • Complete a tuberculosis (TB) screening and receive clearance through UWMC Employee Health. You must meet immunization requirements which include: two measles, mumps, and rubella (MMRs), tetanus and chicken pox vaccines. 
  • Washington State Patrol background check prior to placement. 
  • Attend volunteer orientation and complete job-specific training provided by UWMC.
