UWMC’s Patient Family Housing Program helps families find accommodations, transportation and parking options while loved ones receive medical care in Seattle.

Metro (bus)
Metro, Seattle's public transportation system, is an inexpensive and efficient travel option. Schedules are located inside UWMC's third floor main entrance.

- When calling Metro information, be prepared to give the operator your current location, destination, and your travel time. Metro also has comprehensive transportation information on its web site.
Taking public transit from the airport to UWMC
- Take Link Light Rail or Metro bus No. 174 or No. 194 to downtown Seattle (University Street Transit Tunnel).
- Transfer to No. 43 (Third Avenue and Pike Street), which will take you to UWMC.
- The complete trip takes 50 to 75 minutes, depending on time of day and traffic.
Light Rail trains and all No. 194 and No. 43, and most No. 174 buses, are wheelchair-accessible. Light Rail leaves the airport every 8 to 20 minutes, depending on the time of day. Most of these buses leave every 30 minutes on weekdays and every hour on weekends.

Taking Metro from Union Station (Amtrak) to UWMC
- Catch bus No. 7, No. 14 or No. 36 going downtown at Fourth Avenue and Jackson Street (in front of Union Station).
- Travel north on Third Avenue to Third Avenue and Union Street.
- Walk one block north to Third Avenue and Pike Street, and catch bus No. 43 to UWMC.
Taking Metro from the Greyhound Terminal to UW Medical Center
- Take bus No. 25 from the terminal's southeast corner (Ninth Avenue and Howell Street) to the stop across from UW Medical Center at Montlake Boulevard N.E. and N.E. Pacific Street.
