U.S. News & World Report's 2008 America's Best Hospitals ranked UW Medical Center No. 10 in the nation and has named the hospital among the country’s best since the rankings began in 1993.

UW Medical Center was named the nation’s first Magnet Hospital for excellence in nursing care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which has continued to honor UWMC every four years since 1994.

Jim Rockstad

Following a car crash, Jim Rockstad lost so much range of motion in his right arm that he could barely swing a racquet. At age 62, he had shoulder surgery at UW Medical Center. He was back on the court in no time.
