Overview of Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-I) for insomnia is a proven treatment, rivaling or even surpassing the effectiveness of medications in randomized controlled studies. Patients are seen in individual or group settings for 6-12 sessions. CBT-I focuses on changing sleep habits and misconceptions about sleep. A high degree of motivation is required to participate in the program.

For more information on CBT-I, visit the National Sleep Foundation’s Web site
