Our Rehabilitation Care
The University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine focuses on maximizing abilities so that patients can live full, satisfying lives and manage their disabilities in
the most effective ways.
Dr. Ib Odderson’s mission is to restore and maximize function that patients have lost to injury or illness. As one of UW Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Medicine staff, Odderson represents some of the highest quality care in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report. The magazine’s 2008 rankings of best specialty services identified UW Medical Center as the No. 2 hospital in the nation for rehabilitation medicine.
Odderson treats patients who have painful musculoskeletal conditions stemming from arthritis, sports and work injuries, birth defects, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other causes. He sees patients of all ages, and uses tests to diagnose a patient’s condition and to set a course of treatment.
Electromyography (EMG), for instance, helps him evaluate nerve injuries from compression, overuse, or trauma. Conveniently for our patients, EMGs are performed on-site.
Non-surgical rehabilitative techniques include medications, injections, exercise, braces, physical, and/or occupational therapy.
We invite patients and referring physicians to set up an appointment for rehabilitation care or consultation.
