Eastside Specialty Center - Gastroenterology (UWMC)
Our Gastroenterology Care
Our specialists, Drs. Michael Schuffler and Michael Saunders provide thoughtful, experienced care to patients with digestive disorders and diseases. They treat problems such as chronic constipation, Crohn’s disease, and other illnesses affecting the esophagus, stomach, bowel, liver and pancreas.
- Saunders helps plan patients’ diagnostics such as endoscopy and colonoscopy to discover signs of diverticulitis, for example, and to detect and remove precancerous colon polyps, and provide appropriate follow-up care.
- Schuffler sees patients for dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), reflux, nausea, abdominal pain, incontinence, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and other gastroesophageal disorders.
Treatment can include medical therapy and/or referral for endoscopic surgery. Our patients also have access to many innovative and pioneering clinical research programs through the University of Washington. These hold the promise of new medical-treatment protocols.
We invite patients and referring physicians to set up an appointment for medical care or lab tests.
