Harborview's Spine Surgery Clinic offers a combined surgical service team of neurological and orthopaedic surgeons for spinal disorders including degenerative diseases, tumor diseases, infections and deformities, as well as trauma care to the neck, thoraco-lumbar spine and the sacrum. Harborview was the first hospital in the region to perform disk-replacement surgery, and the UW Sports and Spine Center at Harborview continues to take a leadership role in seeking new ways to perform disk replacement.
Our neurosurgical surgeons and orthopaedic surgeons are also engaged in a spinal-cord injury care program, now at an experimental stage but promising to have clinical applications in the near future. Research is conducted at the UW Center for Epidemiologic Studies and the Department of Orthopaedics Biomechanics Lab, based within the Spine Center at Harborview.
The combination of a multidisciplinary team approach and research into quality care and outcome provide the very best results for patients.
