Oncology Pain Care
UW Medical Center's Cancer Center Oncology Pain Clinic staff is dedicated to keeping you as comfortable as possible during and after your cancer treatment.
To contact the Oncology Pain Clinic, please call: 206-598-6098 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Oncologists will refer you to the clinic if your pain is complex in nature, if your pain is not being controlled with common interventions, or if your doctor anticipates marked changes in comfort as you undergo cancer treatment.
The clinic is staffed by a full-time registered nurse, (a position currently shared by Susan Treharne, R.N. and Deanna Dockter, R.N.), available to discuss pain issues Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Appointments are available with the team's medical staff in the Cancer Center, located on the first floor of the medical center on Tuesday mornings.
In addition to our two registered nurses, the Oncology Pain Clinic team consists of an attending anesthesiologist, Dermot Fitzgibbon, and certified physician assistants, Holly Venogopal and Peggy Oneil-Short. Where appropriate, we involve physical therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and occupational therapists in your care. We collaborate with your pharmacist and keep close contact with you in order to personalize your pain management plan.
Our goal is to help you gain control of your pain and improve your quality of life.
More information on patient support services is available at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
