Specialty Services
At the Endocrine Clinic, all patients are seen by a faculty endocrinologist and by physicians receiving specialty training in endocrinology disorders. Any diagnostic tests and procedures patients may need are available at UW Medical Center.
The Endocrine Clinic is located within the Medical Specialties Center at UW Medical Center. Female patients with reproductive endocrine disorders are seen in UWMC's Fertility and Endocrine Center.
In addition to treating adults with pituitary disorders, thyroid conditions and adrenal disorders, the Endocrinology Clinic specializes in the diagnosis of rare or complex endocrine conditions, such as thyroid nodules and pituitary tumors.
Specialized care:
- Thyroid nodules
Many patients come to UW Medical Center for evaluation of thyroid nodules. We perform fine needle aspiration and the biopsy is read by expert cytologists in UW Medical Center's pathology department. Patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer can be referred to a UW Medical Center surgeon who has significant experience in thyroid procedures.
- Pituitary tumors
We specialize in anterior pituitary function testing and work closely with UW Medical Center's Radiology Department, which uses current generation MRI scanners to identify pituitary pathology. If surgery is recommended, patients can be referred to a UWMC neurosurgeon who specializes in pituitary tumors.
- Adrenal and carcinoid tumors
We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of these rare tumors. Patients who need surgery can be referred to one of three UW Medical Center surgeons who specialize in abdominal endocrine tumor removal.
