Jay T. Rubinstein, M.D., Ph.D., is the director of the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center. Dr. Rubinstein comes to the UW from the University of Iowa Department of Otolaryngology, but he completed his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees here at the University of Washington. From Seattle, Dr. Rubinstein moved to Boston, where he completed a surgical internship at Beth Israel Hospital and residency in otolaryngology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, both affiliates of Harvard Medical School. These were followed by a fellowship in otology and neurotology at the University of Iowa. He has been on the faculty at Iowa since 1995. His clinical specialties are otology and neurotology, acoustic neuroma, cochlear implants, facial nerve disorders, neurotologic skull base surgery, and management of hearing loss, tinnitus, and vertigo.
