Tueng T. Shen, M.D., Ph.D. is the director of the Refractive Surgery Center at UW Medical Center. She is also an assistant professor in the department of ophthalmology at the UW School of Medicine.
Dr. Shen was named the first Lions Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Washington in 2003. She specializes in refractive surgery, medical and surgical management of corneal disorders and cataract surgeries.
Dr. Shen is committed to the deliver the best eye care possible. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and her Ph.D. in medical engineering and chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology as part of the Health Science and Technology program. Dr. Shen's clinical training in ophthalmology includes a residency at Harvard's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Moran Eye Center of the University of Utah.
Dr. Shen conducts research in corneal tissue engineering for treatment of corneal blindness. She has particular interest in raising public awareness of the importance of tissue donation.
