Rehabilitation Medicine

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine focuses on maximizing abilities so that patients can live full, satisfying lives and manage their disabilities in the most effective ways.

Rehabilitation medicine restores function and independence after a serious illness or injury. It's a team effort, with physicians, therapists, nurses, psychologists, and other health professionals working together with each patient and family to achieve the best possible outcome.

  • The Northwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury System: One of 13 model spinal cord injury systems nationwide, this program offers patients with spine fractures and spinal cord injuries a comprehensive regional system of care, treatment and research.
  • Job Station Program: Unique to the University of Washington, this program places clients in supervised work situations throughout the University system in order to build work tolerance and physical capacity, test work skills, and acquire recent experience. Placements vary from entry level and unskilled positions to professional and technical occupations.
