UW Physicians participate with a number of HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) and PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations) that offer you access to comprehensive health care, from primary to specialty care.

PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations) and POS (Point of Service Plans)

University of Washington Physicians (UWP) participates in a number of PPOs and POS Plans. You can choose to receive all of your health care from our providers or use our services for specific specialty care needs. These PPO and POS plans may still require that you select a primary care physician to obtain maximum benefits. Check with your plan.

Upon referral from your physician and approval from your plan, you can receive specialty care from a University of Washington physician under the following plans:

Other Payors

Washington State Medicaid

You can receive all of your health care from one of our providers if you are covered by Washington State Medicaid.

If you are enrolled in Healthy Options, you can select a University of Washington primary care physician through the following plans:

Under other Healthy Options plans, you may also see our providers with a referral from your primary care provider and approval from your plan.

Washington State Basic Health Plan

You can select a personal primary-care physician and receive all of your health care through our provider network. We offer primary care through the following plans:

Under most other Basic Health plans, you may also see our providers with a referral from your primary care provider and approval from your plan.

Medicare

You can receive all of your health care from a UW physician if your primary insurance is traditional Medicare. Most supplemental plans will allow you to receive all of your care from a University of Washington Physician.
