Endowed chairs

The Nancy and Buster Alvord Brain Tumor Center is made up of six endowed chairs. Five endowed chairs have been defined to date. They include:

Ellsworth C. and Nancy D. Alvord Endowed Chair in Neuro-oncology
This endowed chair will be filled by a candidate who has achieved national recognition in the field of radiology and who is expected to make contributions to the advancement of teaching and research in the field of neuro-oncology.

Chap and Eve Alvord and Elias and Karyl Alvord Chair in Neuro-oncology in Honor of Dr. and Mrs. Ellsworth C. Alvord Jr.
This endowed chair will be filled by a candidate who has achieved national recognition in the field of neurological surgery and who will make contributions to the advancement of teaching and research in this field.

Alexander M. Spence Endowed Chair in Neuro-oncology
This endowed chair will be filled by a candidate who has achieved national recognition in the fields of neuropathology and neurology and who is expected to make contributions to the advancement of teaching and research in neuro-oncology.

Gerlich Family Endowed Chair in Neuro-oncology
This endowed chair will be filled by a candidate who has achieved national recognition in the field of radiation oncology and who is expected to make contributions to the advancement of teaching and research in this field.

James D. Murray Endowed Chair of Applied Mathematics in Neuropathology
This endowed chair will be filled by a candidate who has achieved national recognition in the fields of applied mathematics and neuropathology and who is expected to make contributions to the advancement of teaching and research in these areas of investigation.
