Roles & Responsibilities
Principal investigator:
- Reviews grant announcement for proposal requirements
- Checks if grant is a limited opportunity
- Develops project idea and drafts science
- Finalizes business sections for routing eGC1
Principal investigator/grant preparer:
- Assists with budget preparation
- Prepares and uploads appropriate documents into the eGC1
- Submits eGC1 to SAGE for routing
- Serves as contact if any information in the grant proposal needs to be modified
Principal investigator:
- Signs off on the eGC1 to verify that everything is accurate, complete and ready for routing
Department chair/designee:
- Gives approval that constitutes an endorsement of all aspects of the proposal
- Facilitates budgetary information and statements concerning the availability and use of personnel, space and facilities for the contemplated activity that must accompany the proposal per GIM 1
School of Medicine dean/grants review unit:
- Reviews information related to all aspects of the proposal, including the extent to which the proposed activity may affect the teaching and research interests of the department and the college and the possible alternative use of space and facilities per GIM 1
- Reviews grants on a first-come, first-serve basis
- Requires two business days for review
Office of Sponsored Programs:
- Provides final institutional review to assure the grant's conformity to university policies, to resolve any financial, administrative or legal questions, and to concur in any commitments of university space, facilities and spaces per GIM 1
- Submits grant proposal to the sponsor
- Applicants must adhere to OSP's deadlines as outlined in GIM-19, "Internal Deadlines for Proposals to Outside Agencies".
